Maybelline Vivid Matte Liquid Swatches & Review

Hi hi hi!!

I've heard many mixed reviews on these Maybelline Vivid Matte Liquids. Mine is just the same; mixed.

I very much enjoy the colour selection. I wouldn't, however, call them matte. They're certainly not transfer proof, either. I'm not one to complain about having to reapply a lip product. I enjoy it actually. I don't like drying liquid lipsticks. They tend to flake off unevenly and fall all over my chin, which is embarrassingly unsightly.

Whenever a drugstore brand comes out with a new line of lip products, I'm very intrigued. It's hard to keep up sometimes with how fast these brands come out with new products. Not to mention, they're not exactly all inexpensive. Especially if I buy the entire line of them. In this case, the only shade I don't own is the darkest one, which is called Possessed Plum. I initially thought it was a black shade, and I really have no use for a shade like that, but in hindsight, (for the purposes of this blog) I could have used it for swatching.

At any rate, I'm here to show you swatches of the shades I DO have!

Here are all of the shades I do have.

And here are swatches of individual shades.

05 Nude Thrill

10 Nude Flush

15 Pink Charge

20 Electric Pink

25 Fuschia Ecstasy

30 Orange Shot

35 Rebel Red

40 Berry Boost

45 Vivid Violet

Some of the shades don't have the greatest pigmentation and are a little patchy. As I said before, they're definitely not matte, or transfer proof. I legitimately like every single shade but Vivid Violet, and I can see myself wearing them very often. They're pretty moisturizing, and I really don't think I would mind reapplying once or twice throughout the day.

They can be found basically anywhere that sells makeup, and the price will vary. I've seen them as low as $6.99 and as high as $11.99. Just keep an eye out for sales or coupons.

Aaaaaaaaaaaand that's all for today's post! Thanks for reading!

Happy Easter!!

Hello!

And Happy Easter weekend to you all!!

I hope everyone is enjoying their long weekend so far! I unfortunately need to work tomorrow (Easter Sunday), but I had yesterday and today off of work. Yesterday morning I focused on skincare, and put on a facemask! It's been a little while since I've done a facemask, so I felt the need. And yesterday's facemask was one by boscia :)

I used the Bright White peel off mask. This particular mask is meant to help even my skin tone and diminish hyperpigmentation, which I have lots of..... The last time I used a boscia mask, I used the thermal black mask, and the entire thing was actually black, which I didn't expect; I don't know why. But the bright white one I used yesterday was bright white indeed! I expected it to be white, but was still kind of surprised when I saw that it actually was white.

It didn't have an offensive scent or anything. It was actually quite pleasant and fresh. With the boscia peel off masks, you're supposed to leave it on for 20-30 minutes or until it dries down and you're supposed to peel it off. I kept mine on for at least 40 minutes, and when I peeled it off, I still had residue remaining on my face. That didn't happen with the black one, but maybe I just applied it a little too thick. It wasn't anything a wet cloth couldn't deal with after I peeled the majority of it off.

It left my face feeling fresh (as most masks usually do), but nothing extraordinary to report otherwise. It didn't make any difference in my hyperpigmentation; which I didn't expect anyways. I've had it my whole life, so I didn't think a miracle was going to happen with one 40 minute mask. Perhaps over time and many uses it would make a difference, but not once.

Anyway, that's all for now!
I hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend wherever you are, and thank you so much for reading!!

Frutique Coconut Water Skincare Review

Heyyyy!!

I've been using this Frutique skincare line that I purchased at Cosmoprof for several weeks, and I feel like I've come up with a half decent review for you.

Let me start by saying I love anything and everything coconut scented and flavoured. So this was already a thumbs up product for me.

In case you're unaware, coconut water is VERY good for your skin. It's full of vitamins and antioxidants, and helps control excess oil and maintain skin's elasticity.

I have 4 of the 5 products in this line.

1. Hydrating Face Wash (200mL) - SRP $48

2. Hydrating Tonic Mist (200mL) - SRP $47

3. Ultra Hydrating Moisturizer (100mL) - SRP $42

4. Hydrating Night Repair Creme (50mL) - SRP $37

I normally begin my skincare routine with removing my makeup. Funny enough; the makeup remover pads is the only product from this coconut water line that I don't have. So after removing my makeup with my Bioderma or my Garnier micellar water, I go in with the hydrating face wash. It obviously smells like coconut; maybe the most strongly scented product of the line. It has tiny microbeads in it to help exfoliate my skin, and it has a toner built in to help remove excess makeup. I only need 1 pump of this to cleanse my face, so it will last me a long while.

I use the hydrating tonic mist after washing my face and patting it dry. It is meant to rapidly restore the moisture balance in the surface layers of the skin. I don't have a whole lot to say about this product. It's decent, but for the price, I could maybe go without it to be honest.

The ultra hydrating moisturizer smells more sweet than warm coconut-ty, but it still feels wonderful when I put it on my face after using the hydrating tonic mist. It's not too thick to the point that I feel like I'm putting vaseline on my face, but it has a nice consistency that's easily spread around my face and down my neck.

The hydrating night repair creme has a lovely coconut scent to it (stronger than the tonic mist and the moisturizer), and it has perhaps an even thinner consistency to it than the moisturizer; to the point that it almost makes me wonder how it can be a repair creme. It claims to replenish skin's moisture, diminish lines and wrinkles and increase antioxidant protection while you sleep. Which I'm totally okay with.

The only thing I've noticed when I use the entirety of the products that I have is that my skin feels really tight afterwards. Usually when I put on a night creme, my skin feels goopy. Call me crazy, but I prefer that feeling to the tightness; it makes me feel like my skin in actually being hydrated. Whereas, when my skin feels tight after applying a moisturizer AND a night creme, I feel like I need to be moisturizing more because my skin doesn't feel hydrated. I know I'm going back and forth here, but perhaps the reason my skin feels tight is because the night creme and moisturizer are actually sinking into my skin. Bah! I'm so confused!

LONG STORY SHORT, I love this line. I'm going to continue to go back to Cosmoprof and look for the makeup remover pads. Once I run out of the hydrating tonic mist, however, I most likely won't repurchase.

That's all for now!

Thanks so much for reading!

TRESemme Beauty-Full Volume Review

Hi hi hi!

I was lucky enough to have received this package from Harbinger and TRESemme containing the new #Reversie Reverse Wash hair system. When I received it, I hadn't the slightest clue what to expect when I opened the box because I didn't remember entering anything in order to receive it in the first place. But I'm not mad that I did!!

This is a brand new system to wash your hair, and it basically involves doing it backwards. There is a 3 step process:

Step 1: Beauty-Full Volume Pre-Wash Conditioner

Step 2: Beauty-Full Volume Shampoo

Step 3: Beauty-Full Volume Hair Maximizer

These products are available at most retailers (Walmart, Shoppers Drug Mart, Loblaws, etc.), and each retail around the $7 mark.

I used all 3 products the day I received the package and was actually pleasantly surprised. I'm not one to switch up my hair products (I've been an avid Joico user for many many years), but I figured I needed to use it so it doesn't just go bad sitting in the closet of my beauty room.

Have you ever noticed that when washing your hair, the more conditioner you use, the heavier your hair feels when you dry and style it? One of the reasons TRESemme came up with this reverse system was to have soft, touchable hair without the added weight. The pre-wash conditioner is meant to soften your hair, and the shampoo is meant to wash away the weight of the conditioner leaving you with soft, touchable hair. Step 3 is meant to be put in your hair prior to blow drying and styling to give added volume.

I found that I agreed with all of the above. I'm not one to buy into hype and just because a product says it's going to do something, I automatically believe it; I don't. But I was pleasantly surprised by this line. I don't normally blow dry my hair, but I did for the purposes of this review, and I found I did have some extra volume and fluffiness.

If you're interested in this line, don't hesitate to become part of the #VolumeRevolution :)

That's all for now!

Comparison: Garnier Micellar Water VS Bioderma Sensibio H2O

Hi!!

So I picked up the Garnier Skin Active Micellar water makeup remover a few weeks ago, and I've been trying it out and testing it against my beloved Bioderma Sensibio H2O. I think I've used it enough (it's almost half empty) to be able to share my thoughts and opinions on it.

This retails for $9 or so for 400mL, but there's no doubt it can be found on sale almost everywhere right now considering it's a brand new product. There's also a waterproof makeup removing version. The one I have is for sensitive skin. I use a few cotton rounds soaked in the product to begin the makeup removing process. I wash my face normally after using it to get the majority of my makeup off.

I like the way it gently removes the makeup from my face, and especially my eyes. It doesn't sting or burn, and it's quite effective in removing my eye makeup. Almost as good as my Bioderma. I find I have to go over my eyes at least twice to get everything off, whereas with my Bioderma, it's basically one wipe and done.

I definitely like the price point in comparison to the Bioderma, which retails for around $26 for 500mL, but I don't like everything about it. Actually, there's only one thing I don't like about it; the smell. It's the strangest thing, though. When I smell it straight from the bottle, I smell nothing. But as I'm removing the makeup from my face with it, all I seem to smell is lake water. It reminds me of when I was younger and I would go to a cottage with my family or something, and we went swimming in the lake. That kind of lake water. The kind that has fish and algae in it. It turns me off that I'm removing my face with lake water. Not really, but it smells like it. Call me crazy, but that's just what I've experienced. It may just be the micelles mixing with my makeup, and there's a reaction that makes it smell like algae, but I'm really not a fan.

Other than that, it's a pretty great product. I just need to hold my breath while using it or something to get over the smell. I find it works pretty well when I'm doing swatches for posts and need to remove something from my hand or arm or wrist or wherever I have swatched. So maybe that's how I`ll use the rest of it up, and I'll continue using my Bioderma for my face. Yeah, that sounds like a plan.

That`s all for now!

Bye Bye!

Sunday Makeup!

Heyyyyy!!

I'm not usually one to wear makeup on Sundays unless I have somewhere to go, but I wanted to shop today, so I decided to get all gussied up. Wayne even came with me!

These are the products I used today.

And this is the result of the products.

I bought a couple candles from Bath & Body Works, a new eyeliner from Sephora, and some clothes and a purse from Ricki's. I used a couple gift cards that I've had for quite some time from past Christmas' and birthdays.

I got a bunch of makeup when I went shopping on Friday, which I told you I would tell you about in a later post, which I still will :)

That's all!
Walking Dead here I come!

Canadian Beauty Bloggers Music Glam Prize!

A few weeks ago, I was fortunate enough to be involved in a Twitter Party hosted by the Canadian Beauty Bloggers. It was in conjunction with and sponsored by P&G brands Olay, Pantene, Covergirl, Crest, as well as Shoppers Drug Mart. It was encompassing the Grammy's Red Carpet, so we were all using the connection #MusicGlam.

I really love being in the CBB Network because it gives me a chance to share my love of everything beauty with a ton of great women and get to know them through social media outlets. If you aren't already a part of it, but you have a beauty blog, or anything dedicated to beauty, and you live in Canada, check out the CBB!

In any event, this past Twitter party held a phenomenal prize worth almost $300. There were 10 winners, and I was one of them!! I couldn't believe it. I still can't believe it. Even with all of the products in my beauty room, and having used a lot of them already, I can't believe I was fortunate enough to be chosen as a winner for this incredible prize.

The gift card will come in handy on more than one occasion. I don't feel like that part of the prize needs much explanation.

I haven't used the Pantene shampoo and conditioner yet because I just got it last week and I have been working on the Tresemme Beauty-Full system I received a few weeks ago. Full review coming soon on that. But I also only wash my hair twice a week and I forgot to bring it in the shower with me when I washed my hair last time. I'll go put it in there now to remind me to use it :). I've used the 'airspray'; alcohol free hairspray, and have been LOVING that, so why wouldn't I love the shampoo and conditioner that comes in the same line as it?

I actually used the entire line of the Olay skincare system last night for the first time, and I really enjoyed the facial cleansing brush the most (because I'm lazy). The regenerating cream cleanser has tiny microbeads that help with the exfoliating process in conjunction with the brush. The brush is reminiscent of the Clarisonic cleansing brush, which I can never afford, so I really appreciate the Olay version :). The Regenerist micro-sculpting cream is really thick, but also fragrance free and sinks into the skin fairly quickly. The packaging says there will be visible wrinkle results start in 1 day, but I didn't notice anything different this morning, but I also don't have (knock on wood) any wrinkles for the cream to dissipate, so I don't really know what I'm hoping for, but it's never too early to start preventative measures, right?

The Crest 3D Luxe Whitestrips showed results after only 1 use! I have extremely sensitive teeth, though, so I need to wait several days before I use them again. I have no doubt that my teeth will be several shades whiter by the time I'm done this box, but I fear how much pain my teeth will be in during the whitening process. *the price we pay for beauty, eh?*

I honestly haven't used ANY of the Covergirl products. I will. I promise. I have all 3 of the TruNaked eyeshadow palettes, but I've currently only used the Nudes version, (I actually used it to create the look I had from my previous post), not the Goldens that I received in this package, or the Roses that I purchased on my own, but I will! I haven't opened the mascara because I already currently have like 15 on the go and I'm waiting for those to dry out or get used up before I open any other new mascaras. I honestly have around 20 waiting to be opened already, so that one is just hanging out with all of my other new unopened mascaras. The lipstick is a gorgeous red colour, which I love, but I actually very rarely wear a red lip unless I'm going like out out. It's not the type of shade that I will wear to work because I don't want to have to reapply throughout the day in order to keep it vibrant. I don't usually have the chance to worry much about my lip products throughout the day. So I normally opt for a nude shade or a gloss that I can slap on without a mirror.

And that sums up the whole prize package!! I know this was a long one, but there were a lot of things in the package.

Once again, I'm SUPER grateful for the opportunity and the prize. A huge thank you goes out to the CBB and all the P&G brands that had a hand in this.

Thank you so much for reading!!

Bye Bye!

Friday Face :)

Hey!!

I had a few errands to run yesterday, so I decided I'd get a little dolled up, even though it was my day off. I'm not usually one to put makeup on on my day off, but I guess it depends on my mood. And my mood yesterday said 'makeup'. So I did.

And this is what I came up with!

And these are the products I used to achieve the look! Almost all drugstore except the Kat Von D eyeliner :)

I actually really like this look. I enjoy using false lashes to amp up a look. For this one I used Stilazzi lashes in the style 962. I appreciate that they're not entirely too false looking. A lady in line behind me at Home Sense even asked my what mascara I used because my lashes looked so nice. I wasn't about to lie, so I said 'oh these aren't mine; they're false lashes'. It was very nice and flattering of her, and made my day that much more brighter :) By the way, this is what I got at Home Sense.

I've been into the whole DIY Pinterest Sharpie coffee mug thing, but I can't for the LIFE OF ME make an 'S' that doesn't look like a toddler drew it, so I decided to buy one instead. And this one is perfect for Spring and Easter (which is my favourite season due to all the gorgeous colours that pop everywhere). There's no doubt in my mind I'll be picking up more monogrammed mugs in the future, but this one is my first, and I LOVE it!

Thanks for reading!!

Urban Decay Electric Palette!!

Hi!!

I am SO grateful to have received this palette from the beautiful April!! It's so gorgeous, so pigmented, so soft and creamy, so ME!!

She had it in her collection and she admittedly would have never used it, so she handed this beaut over to me!!

And now for swatches.

I used it to create a 'peacock' inspired makeup look yesterday. I started with Gonzo in the crease. I used Thrash in the inner corner, Freak on the inner third of my lid, Fringe in the center of my lid, and a mixture of Gonzo and Chaos for the outer third of my lid. I also went in the same order for the lower lash line.

I needed to throw some falsies on because this was such a bold colourful look, and I chose #415 by Morphe Brushes.

I hope none of you are ever afraid to play with colour like this. I wore it to work and got so many compliments. Even if you don't think it's 'work appropriate', you'll never know until you try!

That's all for now!
Enjoy the rest of your day or night wherever you are!
