Urban Decay Vice 3 Palette!!

Hi Everybody!!

So if you read makeup blogs or have any knowledge of makeup these days, I'm sure you've seen this thing a million times, but I bought it for a different reason than everyone else, I'm sure.

This is the Urban Decay Vice 3 Palette. It succeeds Vice 1 and Vice 2. I only really got into makeup this year (2014), so I don't really know much about the first two Vice's. I DO know that they are all limited edition, and once sold out of stores and online, they are very difficult to get your hands on, and when you can find them, they are guaranteed to have a higher than retail price tag on them.

And that's why I bought one; with the specific purpose to hold on to it until they are all sold out, and sell it at double market value. I have zero intentions of using this palette. When I first heard it was coming out, I had no desire whatsoever to buy it, whether it be to keep and use and be added to my collection, or to give away as a gift (that's a really nice gift, though, with a price tag of $70 CAD).

Upon further inspection and research, I learned that the first two Vice palettes were still sought after on online shopping retailers, and for at least double the market value. So that got me thinking. And thinking some more. And debating. Do I buy this palette and never use it> Do I buy this palette and sell it for double what I paid? Do I actually want this palette for myself? Do I buy it and give it as a gift? So many things went through my head. I deduced that I would for sure never use it, so it was obvious I also didn't want it. The only person I would ever gift it to would be +April Richardson and upon further investigation, I knew she had no desire to own it, either. So my last question to myself was 'do I buy it and sell it for double?', and the answer was yes.

Here are pictures of every facet of the giant palette :)

Giant. The thing is huge. I'm glad I don't want it because it would never fit in the holders that I keep all of my palettes in. If I were to keep it, I can only realistically see myself using the far left row of shadows anyways, and I refuse to pay $70 for 4 eye shadows.

Long story short, though; I returned it.

I did some more research, and there were still a ton left everywhere, and everyone that was selling them online was selling them for the USD price, which by rule of thumb is usually around $10 less than what we pay in Canada. I didn't want to have to wait 6 months or maybe even a year to sell this thing for a profit. Who knows what could happen to it in that time. So it went bye bye. I'm not upset.

That's all! Thank you!

Delicious Healthy Food!!

Hi Everybody!

For dinner tonight I decided to try something different.

I borrowed a spiralizer from my sister in law about 6 months ago and finally decided to try it out tonight. I'm totally kicking myself in the ass now, though, because that thing produces the coolest looking food EVER!!!

I had zucchinis in the fridge that would have gone bad if not used in the next couple of days, so I decided to make zucchini pasta! It actually tastes amazing, without all the bad connotations that eating pasta gives you!! I was really impressed. I just boiled the 'noodles' for about 5 minutes, drained them, and added my favourite pasta sauce.

I also made sweet potato curly fries!! I baked them with a tiny bit of olive oil, sea salt, cracked black pepper, and garlic powder. Delish! I just used a slightly bigger holy cutter thing to make them more of a 'fry size' as opposed to the tiny 'pasta size'.

It may seem weird to have a pasta dish with a sweet potato fry side, but I assure you they were all super delicious and I can't wait to use the spiralizer again to create more healthy and delicious meals!

Thanks!

Yikes!

Hi Everybody!!

I'm so sorry I haven't posted in almost two weeks! Work has got me like whoa! I barely have days off and when I do, I make plans and run all the errands I can't do on the days I work.

This past weekend was a prime example of that. I had Friday off of work, but in the morning I get Wayne's kids ready for school (breakfast, lunch, teeth brushed, etc.), so it's not like I really get to sleep in. My aunt also comes over every Friday morning to have me do her hair. I dye it as well as wash and style it. When she left I had a couple errands to run. When I was done my errands, I had an appointment.

I'm not sure if any of you remember my disappointment in the opening day at Sephora, but I angrily tweeted that day, and in response to my tweets, Sephora offered me a custom makeup application with one of teir beauty experts as well as an array of deluxe samples, so I made that appointment for last Friday. The makeup application wasn't worth it because I feel as though I do it better on myself, but the samples I got totally were!

When I got home from my appointment, I made dinner. We went grocery shopping after dinner. I was in bed by 9 because I had to get up at 5 for work the next day.

Saturday was probably my busiest day. I worked 7-130, went to pick up my friend Rachel, brought her back to my house, did her makeup, and we went to a wedding ceremony for 330.

When that was over, I dropped her off at home, and her and her sister came over to my house very shortly after so I could do her sister's makeup. Her sister was going to the reception with her because I had plans with Wayne and the kids. Wayne made dinner, and when we were done eating and cleaning up, we went to pick his daughter up from work. We had made plans to go to a Spirit/Ghost Walk out in the county. Basically all you do is follow someone around while they tell you creepy historical stories. She ended up working an extra 45 minutes, so we were going to be late for the starting time, so we didn't go. We just went back home and watched a recorded episode of a tv show called Resurrection. We all enjoy that show and we always watch it together. I went to bed after it was done.

Sunday I worked 7-130 again. When I got home, I did the regular boring chores (dishes, laundry, cleaning, blah blah) and watched some football in there too. I am of the firm belief that every single store should be closed on Sundays so we can all watch football. Dinner, clean up, tv, bed.

Jeez! Just talking about my weekend exhausts me. I need a vacation. Any suggestions?

Thank you!

Thanksgiving!!

Hi Everybody!

So last week was Canadian Thanksgiving (for those of you who don't know), and every year, my family celebrates at my parents' house. It is a joint effort for everyone coming to bring a dish, but my mom definitely takes on the major responsibility of cooking the turkey.

It's always a great time spending the evening with my family along with great food and good conversation.
Our meal included:
Turkey
Stuffing
Carrots
Corn
Mashed Potatoes
Mashed Sweet Potatoes
Edamame
Candied Sweet Potatoes
Cranberry Jelly
Salad
Dinner Rolls

It was a feast to say the least. Every single thing was absolutely delicious. Not to mention the dessert! My mom made two pumpkin pies (I actually HATE pumpkin pie), and a caramel apple bundt cake, along with vanilla ice cream. Honestly, thinking about this giant meal I had last week really makes me excited for Christmas dinner. It's only 2 months away!!

Let me know some of your favourite holiday meals!!

Thanks!

New Makeup Geek Shadows!!

Hi Everybody!!

I love mail days when I receive packages! It's like Christmas presents for myself!

I had been waiting for these to come back in stock for over a month before I ordered them to fill my z-palette. They came in a couple days ago, and I am VERY excited for them! I have barely used my other shadows because I've been waiting for these ones so I can make specific makeup looks with them. They are as follows:

My full mini z-palette :)

From left to right, top to bottom:
Shimma Shimma
Peach Smoothie
Creme Brulee
Cinderella
Cosmopolitan
Cocoa Bear
Bitten
Burlesque
Corrupt

I'm VERY excited (did I say that yet?) to use all of these. The pigmentation is out of this world; they're so creamy and buttery, and there's no fallout, They're just all around amazing shadows.

I'm going to go play with them now!

Thanks!

Weekend Travel Makeup Bag!!

Hi Everybody!!

I went away for the weekend with my sister and a couple of her friends, and I thought I would share with you what's in my overnight makeup travel bag :)

So to start, obviously I have my brushes. Every brush here serves a completely different purpose, and they're all just as important as the next. I have foundation, concealer, bronzer, blush, highlight, and eye brushes. These are basically all of the brushes I use on a daily basis anyways.

Next is my bronzer, blush, and highlighter. My bronzer is from the brand 'essence', and I have the shade for brunettes because it's darker than the shade for blondes, but also warmer for my skin tone. Plus it smells like coconut, so it's basically my favourite. The blush I brought with me was my Milani Baked Blush in the shade 'Dolce Rose'. It's just alright. Not super pigmented, but it swatched pretty in the store, so I got it. My highlighter is from Sephora; it's Sephora brand, and it is the Baked Illuminizer in the shade 'Light Beam'.

Next is my undereye concealer and setting powder. They are both by E.L.F., and I use them both every single day. They are a must.

I just got this new smashbox primer, and holy shit it does what it claims to, and very well at that. I use it before I put my foundation on or anything, and it makes my face so smooth I don't like putting makeup on after it. It's just amazing.

Since I was only going overnight, I didn't feel the need to bring an overabundance of eyeshadows, and this Naked Basics palette by Urban Decay is my go to palette when I just want to do a super simple eye look without any fuss. I also use this palette for my eyebrows.

My favourite mascara lately has been the Maybelline brand Colossal Volume Cat Eyes mascara. It's a curved wand, which makes it easy to apply to my lashes if I'm in a hurry, or if I want to really make those babies curl.

I brought my new Wet n' Wild matte lipstick in the shade 'Spiked with Rum'. I didn't end up using it, but it's a really beautiful mauve-y brown-y reddish shade that's perfect for fall. I just used my EOS lip balm instead.

I just realized I didn't take a picture of my foundation, but that wouldn't have really helped any because I have it in a little bottle with a pump with all of them mixed together. I use L'Oreal True Match in N1, N2, and C3.

I also brought my toothbrush, toothpaste, contact case, solution, makeup wipes, face wash, toner, eye makeup remover; all the essentials. I obviously forgot to take pictures of those as well. I'm sorry for the slacking that is this post.

But thank you for reading anyway!

The BEST Gift!!

Hi Everybody!!

This is my thank you gift from the wonderful +April Richardson for watching her kitten, Oliver, a while ago (if anyone remembers when I did that). When we were at the mall last Friday waiting for Sephora to open, we were swatching lipsticks in Target to try to find one that was close enough to this lipstick because she had bought it and I wanted a dupe because I didn't think I would ever be fortunate enough to own the actual thing.

So while we were swatching in Target, I found one close enough to this one that I was going to buy, but April talked me out of it somehow. She told me a little while later that she talked me out of it because she had purchased this for me online and it was coming to my door. I can't believe it. I was so excited about this when I got home from work and it was waiting for me!

It is a lipstick called '1995', and it is by the brand Gerard Cosmetics, and it is HIGHLY popular, and highly requested, and was created by the YouTube makeup artist/beauty expert, Jaclyn Hill. It is just perfection. That is all.

Thank you so much! And thank you April!! Love you!

Friday Fresh Face Mask!

Hi Everybody!!

It's that day of the week again! When I post my crazy un-makeuped face covered in something that's supposed to be good for it.

Today's face mask is from Lush. It is one of their Fresh Face Masks in Cupcake. I have oily skin, and this is supposed to help with the oiliness on my face. And it smells like chocolate. Which I love.

This is it after I opened and used it. It looks like whipped icing, but the consistency is much thicker.

And this is my crazy face with the mask on it. I did like the feeling after I washed it off, but I don't think anything can really help with the amount of oil that pours out of my pores. (<--Ha!) PS. No I'm not naked in this photo.

That's all for now!

Thank you!

SEPHORA HAS ARRIVED!!

Hi Everybody!!

So this past weekend was a very busy and exciting one for me. First off, Devonshire Mall in Windsor FINALLY got a Sephora store (and if you know anything about me, you know how I feel about Sephora). It opened Friday, October 3rd, and the amazing +April Richardson and I went to the opening. That's a story in itself.

So we heard that the first 100 people in the store were going to be getting a goodie bag filled with deluxe samples and things like that, so we wanted to make sure we were the first ones in line. I woke up at 4am to start getting ready because she was picking me up at 545am to go to the mall.

We got to the mall before the sun even woke up. Luckily it was a lovely October morning because we were outside for a long time before the mall doors opened. The sky was really beautiful when the sun was rising, so I had to take a picture. We even took videos of our early morning adventure to hopefully post on a youtube channel we plan on starting shortly!!

When the mall doors opened at 730am, we basically ran through the mall to make sure we were the first ones in front of the store, and of course, we were. By a long shot. Other people didn't start showing up and getting in line behind us until about 830am. I thought more would be as excited as we were about the store, but I guess I was wrong. By the time the store opened, there were probably 50 people behind us.

All of the stores in the mall open at 930am, so when Sephora finally opened its doors, had the ribbon cutting, blah blah, they let us in the store. and DIDN'T GIVE US ANYTHING. I didn't really realize it until we had been in the store for about 15 minutes, and then I thought maybe it was the first 100 transactions that they were giving free stuff out to. So we got in line to purchase what we had picked out. We were planning on shopping more; we just wanted to make sure we got the free stuff.

With a $25 purchase (which isn't difficult), everyone got this specially designed makeup bag. And it was empty. I wasn't impressed. I didn't wake up at 4am to not get free stuff. Plus, who has a store opening without free stuff for loyal customers?? Honestly.

If any of you follow me on twitter (if you don't, go do it now. @shelbyanng9), you may have seen the angry tweets that ensued Friday morning when I got home. I've never done anything like that before, but holy shit social media gets results! Sephora ended up tweeting me back and asked for my email so they could forward my complaints to their retail division. I got an email the next day inviting me to enjoy a complementary makeup application as well as an array of deluxe samples. And that's all I wanted. I just wanted samples. I didn't expect anything to happen from my tweets, but I'm pretty happy something did.

Moral of the story; I'm happy Sephora is finally open, but I'm not impressed with the service thus far.

Sorry for the long post! I hope you stuck around to read the whole thing!
Thank you!
