Out For Lunch!!

Hi Everybody!!

I went for lunch with a dear friend and co-worker earlier this week, and while waiting for her in the bank, I naturally had to take a selfie :)

We went to a place called East Side Mario's. For those of you who haven't heard of it, it is an Italian themed restaurant (kind of the Canadian answer to The Olive Garden). The food was delicious, and so were the drinks :) I had a really lovely time!

After lunch, I did a little shopping (naturally). This was my take for the day :) I got another Quo sponge, but this one is a precision sponge to get into the undereye corner when putting concealer on. I also got a couple Soap & Glory products; Scrub Your Nose In It and The Fab Pore Mask. As well as two more NYX butter glosses; in crème brûlée and eclair, and two Mario Badescu products; Facial Spray with aloe, herbs, and rosewater, and Oil Free Eye Makeup Remover. I have an obsession.

So I had a great day that day!! I will probably not get a chance to do much of that in the coming weeks, because I won't have as much free time, so I took advantage of the time I had. I hope each and every one of you have had a fantastic week!! Thank you so much for reading about mine!!

Product Review!

Hi Everybody!!

Today I am going to be doing a product review on something everyone should go out and buy right now and enjoy it as much as I do. Lush bath bombs. That's it. Enough should be said, but I will share my experience with them :)

Sex Bomb
 Wonder Woohoo
 Butterball
 Pink Bath Bomb
 Dragon's Egg

So far I have used the Pink Bath Bomb and the Butterball, and I am very impressed with both of them. When I dropped them in the tub with the water running they immediately bubbled up and made the bath water super pretty!!

When I got out of the bath, my skin felt super soft with a light fragrance but still light and I didn't feel like it clogged my pores or anything. All in all, I'm obviously impressed with these things, and I will continue to buy them and take more baths!! I totally suggest that everyone go to your nearest Lush store and buy some of these and take a bath tonight :)

Thank you!!

Hi Everybody!!

It's my sister's birthday today!!! She is celebrating an odd number of years being alive (not that it's strange she's still alive, but I'm not going to give away her age.... you can try to figure that out on your own :) haha)

She is my best friend, confidant, sister, and I love her dearly every day. Please go say happy birthday to +Missy G !! She just keeps getting better and more beautiful as the days go on.

Thank you so much!!

The Weekend is Over :(

Hi Everybody!!

I had another busy weekend this weekend, and I'm sad it's coming to an end, but I'm also OK with it because I'm so tired :)

So as most of you have read, I went to a comedy show on Friday. Just to recap, that was hilarious.

Saturday, I worked, did A LOT of yard work, a friend came over with two 3 week old kittens just because she knows I'm an animal lover, and, come on... they were 3 week old kittens... who wouldn't love those things? Wayne and I then went grocery shopping, and we brought home a salad that we made at the grocery store in the 'salad bar' area because I really really didn't want to cook. Saturday was an early night for me because I was exhausted from working in the garden all afternoon.

Sunday was another long day. I didn't have to work, so I was pretty excited to sleep in, but of course, like a jerk, my body woke me up at the regular time I would get up for work. But I laid in bed for a while and caught up on some social media :) When I felt lazy enough and way past the time I should have gotten out of bed, I started my day. I washed all of my makeup brushes, which takes a while, did some laundry, cleaning, paperwork, you know; all the boring stuff. I barbecued some delicious chicken breasts for dinner and paired it with a garden salad.

After dinner was done, a friend of mine texted me and asked if I wanted to go for drinks. I didn't work today, so I obviously said yes! :) She picked me up with her sister, and the three of us went to their brother's bar for some drinks! We were there for a few hours, and it was an awesome time :) If nobody has tried these two drinks, do it now! They're SO GOOD!

Rachel, myself, Sarah

I will probably share my day today another time this week. I have to get to bed because I have to get up early tomorrow for work!! I hope each and everyone of you had an awesome weekend!! :)

Thank you so much!!

Hilarious!!

Hi Everybody!!

I would like to share my night last night :)

I went to a comedy show!! I have only ever been to a couple and they were just alright. I've watched the 'real' comedians do their shows on TV and everything like that, but I've never been partial to going to a club and watching stand up comedy.

Wayne had heard that there would be a comedian he had actually heard of was going to be at one of the local comedy clubs, so we wanted to go, and thought it would be a lovely double date night to go with the beautiful April and her boyfriend, Chris.

So, as I said, I've been to a couple shows, and they were just alright. The one I went to last night was HILARIOUS!!! At times, I was crying because I was laughing so hard. It was easily the best one I've ever been to, and I wasn't the only one who thought that. We were all in agreement that each and every one of the comics were so funny, so spot on, timed just right, and the head liner just killed it. It was a really enjoyable night, and April and I actually took a picture with one of the comics :)

So yeah, that was my night last night. I know it's definitely one of those 'you had to be there' kind of nights, but it was truly awesome.

I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend like I am mine!

Busy Busy Busy!!!

Hi Everybody!!

Wow! I have been so busy with a whirlwind of events and plans and everything under the sun all weekend! I'm so excited to share with you!

So when I last left you I had baked for the sprinkle I was going to on Saturday. I had worked that morning, rushed home to top the mini cheesecakes, then headed over to the sprinkle. It was.....interesting.... Only because there were only 6 of us women there, and not everyone gets along with everyone. Anyway, I was there for about 3 hours, but thankful to go home and nap for a couple of hours.

When I woke up from my nap, I hopped in the shower so I could have plenty of time to get ready to go out Saturday night. I picked up the lovely April around 8pm so we could get ready together at my house, which took a few hours. But it was totally worth it :)

So April, my friend Gillian, Wayne, and myself all pre-drank at mine and Wayne's house while playing the drinking game 'Kings' and got to the club around midnight. We met up with a couple other friends and drank and danced until the bar closed. Afterwards, the lot of us went back to Gillian's apartment to drink some more and maybe play some games. I promptly fell asleep *of course*. I just remember being woken up to go home and I was told it was 430am and being immediately pissed. I don't know why, I just was.

Sunday morning came much too fast. I wasn't feeling well (not because of the liquor, but because of the copious amounts of Red Bull I drank). But stepchildren don't take a day off from eating because I don't feel well, so I made a giant breakfast for everyone. Wayne's daughter had two friends sleep over Saturday night, and we also had his son for the weekend, so I had a lot of people to feed Sunday morning. I don't think I did too bad considering.

After breakfast was done, I cleaned up, and my sister came over in order for me to do her hair. That took a solid 4 hours. When she was done, I made dinner. When dinner was done, I cleaned up, and FINALLY sat down. I decided I deserved something wonderful for myself, so I took a lovely bath with one of my Lush bath bombs and went to bed at 830pm.

Monday morning, and another breakfast to be made. Wayne`s daughter slept over at a friend`s house on Sunday night so I only had to make breakfast for three of us. When breakfast was done, my aunt came over for me to do her hair. That took just a bit over an hour. When that was done I went flower shopping with my dad at Lowe`s. I picked out some annuals, but it was a little difficult to find flowers that only need partial sun because my backyard doesn't give full sun in the garden area. When I got home I tried to get out in the garden for as long as possible until it was time to make and eat dinner. I didn't get anywhere close to as much done as what I wanted to, but it is coming along. I will hopefully be at a point where I don't have to work on it for several hours a day. After dinner, I cleaned up around the house, because it was quite obvious we had kids here over the weekend. I took a shower and went to bed.

Woo!! It almost took as long as the weekend to tell you about it! But, as I said, I was busy busy busy. Sorry for such a long post, but I had a lot to share :)

Thank you so much for taking your time to read about mine!!

Be Wonderful :)

Desserts & A Sprinkle :)

Hi Everybody!!

I was blessed this afternoon and got the entire house to myself to do whatever I wanted, so I decided to bake! :)

It's been a while since I've baked, and I'm going to a sprinkle (baby shower *lite*) tomorrow afternoon, and I am in charge of bringing a dessert, so this afternoon was the perfect opportunity to do so :)

I made a 'Millionaire's Chocolate Pecan Pie' and 'Mini Cheesecakes'!! I have made the pecan pie once before and it was quite the hit, but this was my first time trying this cheesecake recipe, so I hope they turn out nicely.

As I said, tomorrow I am going to a sprinkle, which is essentially a baby shower for someone who has already had babies, but still wants to celebrate the coming of the new one in a toned down manner. It will be a small gathering (probably only around 6 ladies going), and it's a wonderful excuse for us all to get together, share some laughs, good food, and great company :)

I will try to post again tomorrow with some pictures from the sprinkle :)

That's all for now. I am extremely exhausted as I worked until very late last night and have been up since early this morning. This girl needs some sleep.

I hope each and every one of you are having a lovely start to a long holiday weekend!!

Product Review!! Lush Fresh Face Masks!!

Hi Everybody!!

I've heard a lot about Lush products, but until recently I had never even gone in the store because of the overwhelming scent that resonates from it. I really should have just sucked it up a long time ago and gone in. I'm kind of kicking myself for not knowing about and spreading the word about all of their amazing products!! For those of you who don't know much about Lush products, find out more here :)

I went in the store for nothing in particular, but left with a little haul of masks and bombs. Today I am reviewing the masks. The first one I got was 'The Sacred Truth', and the second one I got was 'Ayesha'.

After trying both of them, I believe I am partial to 'The Sacred Truth', and it's not even for a good reason; I just like the scent better :). They both make my face feel amazing and soft and smooth and refreshed, but I just enjoy the scent of the first one more. 'Ayesha' has little kiwi seeds in it that are maybe supposed to exfoliate while putting it on and cleaning it off, but there's something in there that I don't like the smell of. My face still felt wonderful after I rinsed it, though. 'The Sacred Truth' is thicker and has oats in it, and I need more of it to cover my face, but faces aren't that big, so I still got a lot of use out of it.

I definitely appreciate the amount of usage I get out of them for the price tag. I think all of their fresh face masks are only $6.95 CAD, and I got 5 uses out of 'The Sacred Truth'. I just bought 'Ayesha' a few days ago so I haven't used all of that one up yet. They are supposed to be kept refrigerated and they do have an expiry date because they are all made with fresh products. A good thing to keep in mind is if something can go bad within a couple of weeks, it's much much better for you compared to something that goes bad in a couple of years. That applies to food as well :)

I hope each and every one of you are having an awesome day!!

Be Wonderful :)

So Scared :(

Hi Everybody!!!

I know that judging by the title of this post I shouldn't be saying hello so excitedly, but to be fair, I was referring to how I felt yesterday.

My boyfriend and I have 5 cats (yes, 5, and I'm not ashamed or a crazy cat lady; I had 3 and he had 2 before we moved in together), and yesterday I thought it would be a great idea to clip all of their nails. They're all usually pretty compliant when I do it, and it's getting easier the more I do, but I will admit I have been slightly neglectful with it for a couple of months.

I should divulge that I used to put the 'kitty caps' on them to make their clawing impact on the couches less disastrous, but I haven't put them on in a few months because they have seemed to let up on the couches. So I guess the caps are supposed to grow off as their claws grow (if they even last that long with the cats biting and pulling at them), but one of the cats, Nala, had a stubborn one that wouldn't come off. I just thought it was a little funny that wherever she walked on the hardwood I could hear the little tap tap tap of the cap on the floor. I didn't think anything of it until yesterday.

As it turns out, her claw kept growing. And curling. And growing. All the way to her pad on the bottom of her paw. When I discovered this, I kind of freaked out a little, and I'm not ashamed of it. I may have teared up a little, and I'm not ashamed of that, either. She is the first cat I got when I lived on my own, and she is my little princess. Her personality is a lot like my own (like mother, like daughter, right?), and I would do anything for her.

I looked up on the internet (worst idea EVER) what I should do when something like this happens. That made my condition worse. The majority of the stories I read basically said the cat has to be taken to the vet to have their claw removed, be put under, and it would cost $500. The money part doesn't bother me; I would spend every penny I have and go without just to make sure my animals are well taken care of. I just wanted her to be okay.

So I texted a veterinarian technician friend of mine explaining the situation and how I was freaking out a little, and she could tell, so she offered to come over when she was done work to have a look at Nala's paw. Those 4 hours were severely grueling. But she came, had a look, clipped the nail right where the cap ended, and that was that. Nala didn't even flinch *proud mom*. It was like nothing had happened. I couldn't believe it. According to my friend, it was a VERY good thing her claw hadn't started growing into her pad, otherwise it would have definitely required a veterinarian visit.

So my baby is doing just fine. And I am also doing just fine. I'm very happy I didn't have to take her to the vet. I'm sure she's happy, too :) So we can all breathe a sigh of relief.

I hope each and every one of you are having a great day!!

Happy Mother's Day!! :)

Hi Everybody!!

I want to start today's blog with a giant 'Happy Mother's Day!!!!!'. There are so many kinds of mothers out there, and I want you all to know how much you are loved and appreciated, not only today, but every day of every month of every year. Speaking from personal experience, I know that us children don't always show our love and appreciation, but when it comes down to it, we know that you are our mothers and we love you. Promise ;)

That being said, I received an amazing Mother's Day gift from my boyfriend (I'm a pseudo stepmother to his children; a 15 year old girl and an 11 year old boy) yesterday. I just discovered this product and very VERY quickly fell in love with it! It's 'Dot by Marc Jacobs'. If you don't own this, go buy it right now. It is one of the best smelling perfumes I've ever owned in my life. It's sweet like candy, but a hint musky but depth of the musk helps cut the sweetness. It's perfection. Not to mention the packaging looks adorable!! It looks like a lady bug, and who doesn't like lady bugs?? I will be wearing this for a very long time and I couldn't be more grateful for this gift.

I have spent the majority of my day with my mother, going shopping and treating her to lunch, then going back to her house for a glass of wine on the patio before I came home to get ready for dinner (and of course, blog). It was been quite wonderful. The whole family (aside from my dad who is in Alabama currently for work) will be going to my brother and sister-in-law's house for a dinner they have specially prepared for today :)

I am so thankful and really can't put into words how much I appreciate and love my family. Every day it's hard to believe I lucked out so much in the family lottery.

I hope each and every one of you are enjoying your Sunday/Mother's Day. You all deserve it.

Lord of the Rings Cake

Hi Everybody!!

I used to bake a lot. Like, a lot. It makes me a little sad that I don't do it as often anymore, but I think I only feel like that when I do bake something and it turns out well.

A couple of weeks ago my sister asked me to bake a Lord of the Rings themed cake for her *get ready* boyfriend's neighbours' son. Strange as it sounds, there were extenuating circumstances why I agreed, and I'm happy I did.

I was going to make a ring and try to make the fancy script going around it, but with work and other duties and responsibilities I just didn't have the time for all that. So I opted for a simpler, yet still very noticeably theme fitting 'Eye of Sauron' design. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out, and I hope the little boy likes it, too.

That's all for this post. I just wanted to share :)

Ellie Goulding Concert!

Last night I went to the Ellie Goulding concert with my sister at Caesars Windsor. We were given the tickets by our mom, who got them from a patient (she works at a doctor's office), and she had the lovely idea of giving them to us girls as something for us to do together :)

The tickets were General Admission, which at the Coliseum means standing room right in front of the stage, which is pretty awesome, unless you're wearing six inch heels, which my sister was. I was practical and wearing nice flats. So we asked one of the ushers if we could possibly trade seats with a couple people that were sitting in the front row on the floor, and we got to! So we were still really close, but with the comfort of sitting :)

The concert was awesome. That pretty well sums it up. Ellie sounded amazing; she was full of energy, running and jumping and dancing around on stage, all while singing her sexy raspy heart out. Her voice is so unique and amazing sounding that I was convinced she was lip syncing for half of her first song. I'm not going to lie, I don't know many of her songs (basically the ones that are played on the radio), but after last night, I'm honestly thinking about going out and buying her album. A lot of her songs had a really good beat to it, which I love and really look for in a song.

We were both super tired and decided to leave when she was performing her last song of the night, 'I Need Your Love' so we could beat the traffic and insanity all leaving the casino at the same time, but all in all it was a really good concert and I'm really happy we went :)

Beauty Blender dupe??

So I've heard a LOT about how amazing the beauty blender is over and over and over. I really really want one, but I can't seem to justify spending $30 on a tiny sponge. I'm sure it works wonderfully and I will eventually buy it because as I type this and I know what I'm posting about, with the money I've spent on what I'm about to show you, I very well could have bought the 'real thing'. So perhaps I will do a comparison blog in the near future :)
I have used the Quo brand blending sponge for about 3 months now, and I LOVE it. I also love the price ($5). It is the same idea as the beauty blender; you still have to wet it, squeeze it, let it grow, then use it damp on your face to apply and blend your foundation. But from what I've heard, nothing compares to the beauty blender.
I have found other blending sponges at other retailers (KIT brand at Rexall, and SPA Resource brand at Walmart), and they're all only $5, so why not have a couple back ups, right? Because for the amount I've spent on the back ups of the dupes, I could have purchased the real thing. My suggestion would be to save some pennies and go buy the real beauty blender. If you don't wear makeup that often, don't get it, just get the $5 one available at other retailers. They seem to be gaining popularity by the week so it wouldn't hurt.

New Makeup!!

Hi Everybody!!

So today I went shopping and picked up A LOT of new stuff makeup related but I will only be posting the things I get to keep.

It is my sister's birthday at the end of the month so I am putting together a 'makeup care package' for her, so she can begin to feel the joy I do when I see and buy new makeup. So I won't be posting any of the things I got for her today in fear she will see them before her birthday.

But I will most certainly be showing you what I got for myself!!! I'm so very excited to put all of it on my face!
** short blog warning because I'm tired but I HAVE to share this **

Eek!!! I went the Balm Cosmetics crazy :). There was a buy one get one 50% off sale at my local Rexall, so how could I not, right?? Anyway, I got the Meet Matt(e) palette, the Nude 'Tude palette, the Mary Lou-Manizer, and the Time Balm primer. So so SO excited to play with them!!

I hope each and every one of you are having a great day!!

E.L.F. Haul!

Hi Everybody!!

So today I am going to be talking about everything I ordered from elf! This was a little bit ago, and over two orders but I've been using some or most of these things on an almost daily basis, so I figured I would share with you!

I ordered everything you see below very late March as well as when the website had their 40% off April Fools sale. That is a pretty amazing sale considering almost everything is under $6. But when I got to the checkout there was a pop up that said 'April Fools! You actually save 50%!'. So naturally I went back and ordered a LOT more stuff.

In no particular order, everything I got is as follows:
Studio Makeup Remover Cleansing Cloths
Studio Makeup Remover Exfoliating Cleansing Cloths
Studio Makeup Brush Shampoo
Studio VIP Eyelash Kit
Studio BB Cream in 'Nude' and 'Fair'
Studio Undereye Concealer & Highlighter in 'Light/Glow' and 'Medium/Glow'
Studio Baked Eyeshadow in 'Pixie'
Studio Baked Eyeshadow Palette in 'California'
Studio Baked Blush in 'Pinktastic', 'Passion Pink', and 'Peachy Cheeky'
Studio Baked Bronzer in 'Bora Bora' and 'Maui'
Studio Baked Highlighter in 'Moonlight Pearls' and 'Pink Diamonds'

Studio Eyebrow Kit in 'Dark'
Studio Volume Plumping Mascara in 'Black'
Studio Moisturizing Lipstick in 'Party In The Buff'
Studio Lip Balm in 'Peach'
Studio Matte Lip Colour in 'Natural' and 'Coral'
Essential Smudge Brush

Studio Small Angled Brush
Studio Flat Eyeliner Brush
Studio Stipple Brush
Studio Small Stipple Brush
Crystal Total Face Brush in Pink and Purple
Crystal Blush Brush in Pink and Purple
Crystal Eyeshadow Brush in Pink and Purple
Crystal Blending Eye Brush in Pink and Purple

Yes, I realize it sounds and looks like A LOT, but keep in mind that all of this was purchased over 2 orders, and more than half of it was 50% off. Total all of this cost me around $100 (both orders had free shipping because they were over $35 each), so I or nobody else can complain about that.

I did order a couple things to give to my sister and April, so it's not even like I kept everything anyway, just most of it :)

I hope each and every one of you are having a fantastic day!! Thank you so much for taking time out of it to read about mine!!

What A Wonderful Week!!

Hi Everybody!!

On this quiet Sunday morning I decided to do a Lush 'The Sacred Truth' face mask (because I have some spare time before everyone else starts to wake up) and reflect on this past week of my life. I have come to the realization that last week was so awesome for me that I think it will be hard for another week this Spring to top it.

First off, I started this blog *points at computer*, spent time with my family, hung out with some amazing friends, went shopping... oh, and I worked, but that doesn't necessarily contribute to the awesomeness that was my week ;)

I posted a couple days ago about my Sephora shipment that came on Friday morning, so that in itself is so exciting that it's worth mentioning again, but yesterday is a pretty good contender in the world of beauty products.

It was my stepdaughter's 15th birthday yesterday, so the family went out for a lovely dinner to The Keg, and when we had gotten home, my brother had sent me a message saying the birthday gift him and my sister-in-law had ordered for me was finally in. I asked for something as a pipe dream never even dreaming in a million years I would actually have it, especially since it was constantly sold out online (and of course, only available online). Well, it came back in stock, so I instantly told my brother about it *with a giant sense of urgency*, and the fantastic man that he is, ordered it with that same sense of urgency. So him and my sister-in-law stopped by our house when we had gotten home from dinner to give me my gift.

Drum roll please..!!

It was the Jaclyn Hill Beauty Expert Box for Sigma!!!!!! It's still so surreal. I woke up this morning long before my alarm with my heart pumping out of excitement because I can't wait to use them!!

So I am aware that the majority of this post was all about the anticipation of these brushes (which, why shouldn't it be all about them??), but the rest of my week was pretty amazing as well. I got my teeth cleaned (which I LOVE getting done.... I know... I'm kinda weird, but whatever), I went for some drinks with friends, I went shopping with the lovely April (dawnofapril.blogspot.ca), had her and her boyfriend over for dinner (which I posted about), worked *boo :( *, and spent time with my beautiful family :). All in all, it really was a wonderful week.

I hope each and every one of you had just as amazing of a week (it would be super eerie if it were exactly the same as mine), and I hope you have an amazing week ahead of you!! :)

***In case some of you were wondering (because I can't type 1000 words per minute), yes I have washed the Lush mask off my face, and yes it does feel incredible; so clean, so fresh, so soft. I recommend everyone go and get one because it's only around $7 and you can get 4-5 uses out of it. Totally worth it!!***

I'm SO Excited!!

Hi Everybody!!!

So I'm super excited to share with you what came in the mail today!!

I ordered these items from Sephora on Monday just in time to get my free birthday gift because I'm an April baby, and it came today! How fast was that?!

I'm sure everyone and their cousin has these, but I just recently got into makeup, care of April (dawnofapril.blogspot.ca), and I very quickly became OBSESSED, so I'm trying to acquire as much as I can I think..... Much to the dismay of my bank account, but I just can't help it because everything is so pretty!!

So, without much further ado, I present my amazing purchases that I could not be more thrilled about!!  I can't wait to play with all of these things and create beautiful looks!!

Thank you so much for reading!

Product Review!!

Hi Everybody!!

I bought this Benefit Foamingly Clean facial cleanser about 6 weeks ago, and I'm just this week starting to notice I have to squeeze the tube to get more product out. It seems like there is still quite a bit of product still, though. I'm pretty amazed how long this has lasted considering I use it in the morning when I wake up and at night before I go to bed.

It is a gentle lathering soap, not a foaming soap (which you would think it is by the name, but no). It does, however, make my skin feel so smooth and so clean after I rinse it I find it hard to not continuously stroke my face. It also smells heavenly; not too strong but admittedly one of the reasons I bought it. I will definitely be repurchasing this when it does eventually run out and I totally recommend it to anyone with sensitive skin or even not-so-sensitive skin.

I bought mine at Shoppers Drug Mart in the Beauty Boutique and I believe it was around $28.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this!!

Be Wonderful :)
